12/21/2023 0 Comments Mixbus 32c color multiple tracks![]() With an input of -18dbFS, the signal was reduced to a peak of -20dbFS. The limiter has a fixed ratio and attack. Let’s just dive in and go through what the Mixbus 32c mixer offers. Each channel has a selection of features that optionally can be sent to a mixbus with a number of features that goes to a master bus with a number of features which can optionally go through a monitoring section with a number of features. The mixer in mixbus is not your typical digital summing box. I don’t think that this is necessarily the best use of Mixbus, since it’s a fantastic full-fledged DAW in its own right, however it is one of the best aspects of Mixbus. It does come with its own samples and synths, which are good quality.Mixbus is often seen as a program that, after doing all of your work in another DAW, you drop in stems and mix with. in contrast to Reaper, the bussing options and deep audio editing options are basic. It is just not optimized for linear recording or editing., e.g. It does some things well, it just doesnt do as much, so the learning curve is lower. ![]() If you exclude some addons (namely Max for Live) it is overall a simpler DAW. The pros there include the efficiency of setup for a loop based recording or performance. I also use Ableton for more live midi and audio stuff, like electronic jams. However, a search of KVRaudio and youll find even excellent options for all but esoteric things even for free. It is just the studio, not the instruments. The other potential con is it doesnt come with much in the way of its own sound generation options, i.e. Your only objective difficultly might be finding the options because the option lists (e.g. I say say arguably because, if youre clear on what you want to be able to do, it isnt really harder than others. The cons are that, because it is so powerful, the learning curve can arguably be a bit higher. The pros are that it is deep, powerful, customizable. Hope this rambling is helpful, if not I apologize in advance. Nothing you would really notice outright or in a home studio situation, really use that often, if at all. But it is exactly the same interface and setup as the standard version, it just has some additional features. Keep in mind that the PT trial is of the Ultimate version. Sorry, I can’t recall, but I believe it is not. If you want to try Pro Tools, they do offer a 30 day trial of the REAL software, it’s just not advertised as widely or talked about. But in all seriousness, skip Pro Tools|First. Others think the default color scheme is perfect and easy to read. I am colorblind and have issues distinguishing certain colors from each other. And it didn’t change enough for my liking. On top of that, it took me a while to change the color scheme so I could actually see what I was looking at. I’m sure S1 is great, but to me it’s confusing as hell. I get frustrated every time I attempt to give it a fair shake and just go back to Pro Tools. For example, people love Studio One, I for the life of me can’t grasp it’s workflow. Just because Joe Blow swears Reaper or Logic or whatever is THE best Daw, doesn’t mean it is for YOU. I would suggest d/l and trialing the ones that pique your interest. There are also lots of tutorials on their webpage and tons of them on YT as well. ![]() There is a dedicated forum on KVR for it that the developers frequent too. From loading it up, you can be up and recording a track in under a minute. It is very user friendly, is a single screen Daw, which means no toggling between the edit and mix screens. The difference between the two is the inclusion of additional software like Melodyne, Autotune, software instruments and some loops. I have the Pro version (been using it since T4) but they offer a completely free version that has all the bells and whistles of the Pro version and no nag screen. For quick ideas and lower track count quick projects I use Waveform (formally Tracktion). ![]() Now that might not sound too bad, track count wise, but you may soon find it really is. You can only work on 3 Cloud based projects, no 3rd party plugins, ONLY the basic ones that are included and it is limited to 16 tracks total. I highly recommend that you DO NOT even waste HD space on Pro Tools|First.
